Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 12th goal in as many
games this season to help Real Madrid to a 3-1 win at
second-place Celta Vigo and provisionally increase their
league lead.
Ronaldo and Danilo gave Madrid a two-goal lead at
Balaidos Stadium by the 23rd minute, but Madrid needed
goalkeeper Keylor Navas to protect the advantage before
Celta lost Gustavo Cabral to a second yellow card just
before the hour.
Despite playing a man down, Nolito got a deserved goal
for the hosts in the 85th and Celta almost leveled before
Marcelo scored Madrid's last goal just before the final
whistle.
Celta's first loss of the season left Madrid as the only
undefeated team in the 20-team league.
Sevilla bounced back from their last-gasp defeat to
Manchester City by thrashing 10-man Getafe 5-0 to
move up to ninth place in the Primera Division.
Kevin Gameiro hit a first-half brace to put the hosts well
in control and completed his hat-trick with a penalty,
while Ever Banega and Yevhen Konoplyanka also netted
spot-kicks, the Ukrainian completing the visitors'
humiliation after Carlos Vigaray was dismissed.
Unai Emery's side suffered a last-minute defeat at the
Etihad Stadium on Wednesday due to Kevin De
Brunyne's injury time goal and a home game against a
Getafe side who have not won a single game on the
road this season was just the tonic they needed.
Adnane Tighadouini and Juan Carlos struck in the
second half as Malaga claimed their second win of the
Primera Division season at Deportivo La Coruna's
expense.
The hosts gave themselves a three-point buffer over the
relegation zone with a 2-0 win at Estadio La Rosaleda,
only the second game this season in which they have
scored.
Granada temporarily moved off the bottom after drawing
1-1 at home to fellow Andalusians Real Betis.
Dimitri Foulquier gave the hosts the lead after just two
minutes by pouncing on an error by Betis defender Heiko
Westermann, but Ruben Castro saved his teammate's
blushes by levelling from the penalty spot later in the
first half.
Betis climb up to ninth spot thanks to the point, while
Granada go up to 18th, a point ahead of Levante and
Las Palmas, but are still without a win since August.
